Mindset in Girls Basketball Coaching & Private Small Group Instruction
Mindset Work is essential to achieving our goals.
Greta works three days a week on private volleyball instruction at GSI and strength training with Coach Burdick in the gym. She takes weightlifting class and works year-round to improve her setter’s game and build her team for the fall season. Greta throws shot in Varsity track, as well as strength training at home with her dad. She leads the Jesus Loves You Club on Friday mornings and builds the Kingdom in her fundraising work, summer volunteering, and church participation. Greta is the Sophomore Class President, a leader for her school where she enjoys fundraising to support fun events like Powderpuff Football & Volleyball, Sr Prom, and initiatives to support children who battle illness or Cancer. She is a key part of our family’s success in following our shared goals to love one another and help get each other to heaven on day.
State Finals in Lakeland 2022, State Runner Up
Mindset Coaching included prayer in Theology class, encouragement, and reminding the girls why God brought them together: to love one another, support each other, and pray for one another. The outcome matters less than how we serve each other, work as a team, and grow in faith, hope, and charity. Sam Kotasek was a power forward on the team, serving her team with strong rebounding and daily hustle. Teammate Sim led the team in prayer, creating a force of joy that propelled her to Harvard. Liv Davis led the team offensively with energy that ignited the crowd, launching her career at UTampa women’s basketball, and Jordyn Byrd on her journey to Gatorade Player of the Year in volleyball (twice) led the team as Center and went on to play volleyball at UTexas and UF where she dominates the net to this day. Jordyn offers private lessons in volleyball in the summer, so reach out to her directly for information about lessons. Kali Barrett led the team as a powerful force on offence and defense, rebounding, and court presence and now plays in Ohio at U Cincinnati. Josie Maloni served and led her team as a powerful force in both faith and defense, stealing the ball and making 3’s like a champion. Kennedy served her team as an amazing shooter, assist-maker, and court presence. Seniors led with amazing poise and charity that I often felt inspired by keen wisdom beyond their years. Coach Rico shared “Be in the Shoes You’re In” and “Block Out the Noise,” and the girls ended up winning state the following year(s). Bri Behn, one of the most impressive offensive players in team history, went on to play at Booker and dominate with her humble and quiet leadership, making moves off the dribble and caring for her team. This group remains strong leaders in our local community as women who know who they serve: God. Mindset: Belief that anyone can do anything with God as their Leader.
